Hello, my name is Brad Sears. Thank you for visiting my website - I'm glad you stopped by!
I'm a professional woodturner specializing in a wide variety of beautiful, functional wood-turned art. I am dedicated to creating heirloom-quality works of fine art and fine craft that will be appreciated, used, and hopefully be passed down for future generations to enjoy!
The Arts have been part of my life since the beginning. My father was an amateur violinist - so Music and Fine Art have always filled our home. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Music from Baltimore's Peabody Conservatory, yet woodworking has always been central to my life. I am continually fascinated by the beauty so often hidden in an otherwise rough block of wood. I take immense satisfaction from seeing that rough block come alive in my hands as it is transformed into an object of grace and beauty.
Others recognized this and encouraged me to become a full-time artist. I owe those folks an immense debt of gratitude.
I am passionate about my craft and the American Art Scene. I am also amazed at the pace of technology. I'm amazed by its ability to bring people together and to expose art as never before - so that while my wife and I live in the scenic woodlands of Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains, my work can now come to you with a simple "click" anywhere in the world!
I hope you enjoy your visit to my website. I hope you will visit often - and welcome your patronage!
Fine wood is my passion and creative canvas. Fine wood is a living medium of natural wonder and timeless beauty where the interplay of color, figure, motion, proportion, balance, and finish unite in a totality far greater than physical dimensions alone might suggest.
Fine wood evokes intense feelings of warmth unmatched by any other material - or any other medium. Natural wood delights the senses with its colors, its texture, its depth, its aroma.
Whether a functional piece - a pepper mill, a salad bowl - or a fine art form: owning, viewing and handling finely crafted wood art is an experience unique in all the world.
I work to honor wood's penetrating beauty - to create art forms whose lines, colors, textures, and finishes fully satisfy their intended purposes - forms that harmonize with their surroundings yet stand distinctively in their own space: works that resonate with the soul.
The vibrancy and creativity of the American art scene - and the fine craft movement in particular - are sources of intense satisfaction and inspiration for me. I am honored and gratified to participate in both.
I value our environment and guarantee that all my work is made from quality, environmentally friendly materials. I sign, number and date every piece - and include a signed Certificate of Authenticity.
I guarantee that you will be delighted with my work!
